Collectorate

The Collector plays a key role in district administration. As part of the IAS cadre, the Collector leads the district. He functions as the District Magistrate to manage law and order within his jurisdiction. His main responsibilities include planning and development, law and order, scheduled/agency areas, general elections, arms licensing, and more.

The Joint Collector, also from the IAS cadre, oversees revenue administration under various laws in the district. He is also appointed as the Additional District Magistrate. His responsibilities mainly cover civil supplies, land matters, mines and minerals, and coordination with rural officers.

The District Revenue Officer (DRO), belonging to the Special Grade Deputy Collectors cadre, assists the Collector and Joint Collector in their duties. The DRO manages all branches under the Collector. He primarily handles general administration and supervises the Collector’s day-to-day activities.

An Administrative Officer, in the rank of Tahsildar, acts as a general assistant to the Collector. He directly supervises all sections under the Collector and handles most of the files routed through him.
